MicrosoftMaking Waves about The Office Spoof |
|
Microsoft and its agency of record McCann Erickson were trying to make waves showcasing its products following a spoof of The Office television show, which had been launched in the UK six months earlier. The goal of the campaign was to show how Microsoft Office products could improve productivity in the workplace.
e-Storm and McCann Erickson worked together to develop dissemination tactics, created social media etiquette to encourage respect with its audience and implemented tracking systems.
e-Storm recommended a series of strategic and tactical changes to the spoof and the marketing done around it. We included “viral” elements, such as video sharing. In addition, we were able to assist McCann Erickson and Microsoft with the tracking of results on their sites as well as social media sites such as MySpace, YouTube, and others.
We were able to track and measure results which included more than 1,500,000 views of the video and more than 75,000 “pass alongs.”
e-Storm continues to work with McCann Erickson on word of mouth marketing and social media marketing initiatives around Microsoft products.
